Clipper 1.2.3.4 and more!
Hello again! This is the third rojekti newsletter, and we are here to bring you a new version of Clipper and more news!
Clipper 1.2.3.4
We've just pushed out a new release of Clipper to the Android Market, with the version number of 1.2.3.4!
Here's what's new:
Lots of bug fixes: if Clipper has crashed in the past for you when trying to send text files to it, behold: this is the update you've been waiting for! There's also some other boring stuff we've fixed.
A cool new feature for Plus users: the ability to add "substitution strings" to snippets. If that sounds confusing, don't worry - here's how it works: when creating a snippet, you can now add a special piece of text into it, like
%YEAR%. When the snippet is copied, the%YEAR%magically turns into "2010" instead. If you're a time traveler and you're in the future (like on January 1, 2011), it will be replaced with 2011: you probably get the idea. There's also other substitution triggers like%DAY%or%MONTH%, and they are all accessible from the editor's menu. Some people have complained to us about Clipper requiring the internet permission, and many others have probably been concerned about it - after all, what do we need the permission for? Well, you may have noticed that the application asks you to subscribe to a certain newsletter (which you may or may not be reading right now) when you first start it. We've rewritten the process, and Clipper no longer requires or asks for the permission.
If you want the clipping font size to be even bigger than it is now, there are two new sizes in the preferences.
In case you're running the latest and greatest version of Android, version 2.3, Clipper now supports the new "overscroll" effect for lists. Have fun!
There's also some other user interface improvements in the editor and the search dialog.
As mentioned above, the application permissions have changed, so you will probably need to update Clipper(+) manually from the Android Market. And if you haven't done so yet, now would be a great time to expand your application collection with a rare, vintage copy of Clipper Plus, est. October 2010 for only 0.99€*! Clipper+ removes many limitations and adds many exclusive features, like the aforementioned string substitution for snippets.
* plus 23% VAT for residents of the European Union. In our completely unbiased opinion it's still totally worth it, though!
10000 downloads
If you are in the habit of obsessively refreshing the Android Market page for Clipper every 5 minutes like I am, you will probably have noticed that around a month ago the free version of Clipper reached 10000 downloads (unfortunately, we aren't quite there with Clipper Plus yet!)
We'd just like to thank all our users for their continued support. Your feedback has helped us develop Clipper ever since its first release, and we look forward to developing it further!
That's all
That's all for this newsletter. We wish you a happy new year, and stay tuned for more news!
